Can you invite family that you want to view your content but not be able to comment on it?556 votes
We have options to share pictures or download them back to our phone but our videos have zero options. Once we upload them to your site, we can't do anything with them. Can you add a share to Facebook or YouTube feature or even download back to our phone? I'm using life cake as storage and have found that I can't get any of the video back to my phone to share with people that don't have a life cake account. Thank you!138 votes
Hi, Tammie! So sorry for the delay in responding to this.
To download videos, you can download all your original photos and videos via the ‘Download all’ option in Settings on our Website. Just so you know.
But we will look at downloading individual videos and get back to you!
At the moment you have to crop or amend the colours or add text/stickers to a photo before you upload it. If you could crop pics in this app it would be a lot better.26 votes
We’d love to introduce photo editing tools in the app. If this requests gets some good traction, we’ll escalate it’s priority in our list of todos.
Ed & the Lifecake team.
It would be great to get one for my phone. Thanks!251 votes
Hi, Judit! We don’t have a Windows Phone app planned, but we are looking to provide access to lifecakes via a Windows Phone browser – or any phone browser.
We’ll keep you posted!
We backup all photos (including non child) to Google Plus, and sometimes it creates sweet and beautiful animated photos. I tried to upload to Lifecake and the preview during uploaded was animated, but then once added the gif became static.
Gifs are a standard format already supported by all browsers and mobile phones, please preserve the format for lifecake photos.57 votes
Hey Eddie. Thanks for the feedback. We definitely could support animated gifs – it is really just a question of where we focus our resources. We’ll keep an eye on the number of votes this gets and shall keep you posted.

I think Lifecake is awesome I just wish there was a way to sort the videos. I would like to be able to see the videos by themselves.31 votes
Many thanks for the feedback. It is a great idea. Let’s see what traction this idea gets in the forum and once we see some good votes we’ll get working on it.

It would be great if you can make and order videos....just an idea3 votes
Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. What format would you ideally like this video in? As a DVD or some other portable format?
Thanks for the feedback!
Do you plan to support flickr in the near future?36 votes
Hi, Ross! Thanks for the question.
We plan to, but we’re just checking how many votes the idea gets to decide on when we do it. We’ll update you here when we’re sure. And sorry for the delay in the meantime.
I guess it seems to defeat the purpose is you're using this awesome app to share pics/videos with family and friends. But I also like to be able to store all the pics/videos in one place. Some pics I may not necessarily want to share with everyone that can view the timeline so the option to make some pics/videos private would be great! Either way, I LOVE LifeCake!55 votes
Thanks a lot for the suggestion, Thuy! We’ve been having lots of discussions about this in our team, and we may come back with a few questions on this. But it is definitely on our radar.
Have a great day!
Make it possible to create a heading, e.g. Freddie's First Christmas or Trip to the Seaside, and then make groups of photos/stories appear under the heading.17 votes
Hey Alexandra! Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the delayed response. The team talk about this concept a lot – it idea of being able introduce ‘chapters’ or ‘phases’ to the timeline. We don’t yet have any fixed plans to implement this but will be doing a lot more thinking in this area.

I'm a big fan of the look and functionality of the LifeCake website and app! Ultimately, I'm looking to print content in a book though, so I'm still waiting on some features and hope you'll consider adding them in the future. Specifically, it'd be great if all content, including stories and comments, could be included and there was an option for multiple pictures/stories per page.
I recently stumbled across My Social Book and would love being able to print books of a similar look from LifeCake. Do you think your books will deliver similar features in the future?384 votes
Hi, Johana! So sorry for the delay in responding, but we’re glad you’re enjoying the app and Website.
We do want to provide more options in our photobooks in the future for sure. Right now we’re focusing on customer requests within our app and Website, though, so we’re unsure when we will have this. But we will update this as soon as we do.
And in the meantime, just so you know: we have an option on our Website in Settings to ‘Download all’. With this you can download all your content – in full quality and in monthly, organised folders – so you can still print books on other sites in the time being.
Thanks for your patience and your feedback!
This is a great service!
Is there any chance you could write an export plugin for Adobe Lightroom. I'm sure photographers are drawn to a service like this and a direct export from the most popular enthusiast editing software would make the upload process much easier.
Keep up the good work!21 votes
Hi, Vince! Thanks so much for your email.
We have been thinking about plug-ins for iPhoto and Lightroom and apps, and we hope to have them for our desktop apps. We’ll keep you posted when something like that is coming!
If you want to invite friends to try out Lifecake, but don't have their email address or want to use the automated form, perhaps you could provide a unique referral code or link which they can use when signing up?7 votes
HI, Meg! So sorry for the delay in responding to this. We’ve been thinking about your suggestion and how to make it easier to invite loved ones.
The challenge is always balancing our need for complete security with the desire to make everything with lifecake fun and easy. The shared link is great for the latter but not as good on the former. But we will keep working on this!
Thanks so much for the great suggestion.
i think that nicknames set by the parents should be the names that show for anyone looking at the account. For example, if my brother created his account with just his name, Matt, but I put his nickname as Uncle Matt, everyone should see his name as Uncle Matt when he loves a moment or makes a comment.88 votes
Hi, Sarah! Thanks so much for this (and sorry for the delay in responding). Seems to be getting a lot of votes.
We didn’t do this currently because we know in many families people have their own personal nicknames for people (i.e. ‘Grandma’ for me is ‘Mum’ to my mother). This is our concern with making things universal.
Also, who gets to decide what someone’s nickname is? If it’s personal, then there is no issue. But if it’s universal, then only one person can decide.
Would love to know yours (and anyone else’s) thoughts on this!

There should be a standard form to capture some specific information of the baby's life, such as day (as well as date) and time of birth, height and weight at birth (and perhaps monthly intervals), location of birth, gender, eye colour and hair colour. I know this can be done through notes, but a standard form that creates a specific nicely-formatted entry (or entries in terms of height/weight) plus photos would be quite nice. I know some of the journals available can collect data on amount of sleep/playing etc. but that's a bit too far into the realms of a log - my suggestion above is more some stated facts in a simple form.

Hi Mark! This is a great idea. You’re right in that today many people do this via our ‘stories’ feature but we could significantly improve the experience here. We’re exploring this idea of ‘milestones’ – we have a D.O.B marker but could expand it to include many of the key facts & stats you mention.
We definitely plan to add this in the future, and we will update here when we have it.
Thanks for your patience in the meantime!
It would be great to be able to publish sound recordings : my daughter singing, my baby drinking, ... With mobile phone, we have voice recorder app included, so...8 votes
Thanks a lot for the suggestion! As much of our team came from Skype, we have a special fondness for audio. And we are looking to do something quite unique with audio in the future.
But in the meantime we can look to support basic audio recordings, as they are indeed lovely and powerful.
At the moment you can't choose the order of photos taken on the same day, which is a pain. This would be a helpful improvement!23 votes
Hi! Thanks for the suggestion and apologies for the delay in responding.
Would your ideal scenario be that you can drag a photo to be the main one featured that day and then have the rest of the family see the same thing?
Hi Caroline! Thanks for the suggestion – and sorry we’re not getting back to you sooner. We will continue to add platforms from where you can import to Lifecake. We don’t yet have a schedule for OneDrive but we’ll let you know when we do.

The admin (me) should set up the notification defaults for people whom I add. My mom and dad and other elderly relatives aren't technologically savvy, and so when I add them, they'll get notifications on their smartphones as well as an email. I know them well enough to know that they don't want both, so it would be kind of nice if I could remotely set their notification preferences with an understanding that they could make changes if they decided to figure out how to do that.6 votes
Thanks a lot, Marcia! We will discuss this and see if there might be a way to do this in a simple way. We absolutely understand the desire to tailor communications for family members.
Through our recent experience using your very beautiful application life-cake we had some ideas:
If the program could recognize the duplicated pictures if they were uploaded from different devices and gave notification about that to prevent this issue.11 votes
Hi, Ruaa! Thanks for the feedback.
We’d really like to recognise duplicates in the future and make this whole process easier to manage. We don’t have a timeframe for that, but we will update here when it’s coming.
Thanks for your patience!
