When someone posts a comment you like, it would be nice if you could like it or fave it.11 votes
Thanks! We’re looking into this one and watching how many votes it gets :-)
Are you going to launch an app/channel which is compatible with my Roku 3. I need to be able to display my photos on my smart tv via my ROku box like I can do with Picasa.23 votes
Hi, Greg! To be honest, this is not in our plan right now as yours is the first request we’ve had on this (and our priorities are really guided by what our customers request most).
But we certainly think it’s cool – as we believe ultimately the TV will be one of the best devices for lifecake – so we’ll see if this idea gets more votes from people!
Thanks for suggesting.
Nick from the Lifecake team
It would be great if I was able to pay to get my photobook gift wrapped when I send it to Grandma.7 votes
This is a great service!
Is there any chance you could write an export plugin for Adobe Lightroom. I'm sure photographers are drawn to a service like this and a direct export from the most popular enthusiast editing software would make the upload process much easier.
Keep up the good work!21 votes
Hi, Vince! Thanks so much for your email.
We have been thinking about plug-ins for iPhoto and Lightroom and apps, and we hope to have them for our desktop apps. We’ll keep you posted when something like that is coming!
I need to be able to select all photos in a picasa folder at once without having to click7 votes
Hi, Greg! Thanks a lot for the idea.
We’ve had a few requests to make it easier to bring everything over from Picasa (or Facebook or Instagram). We’re looking into the best way to do this, and we’ll let you know when we’ll have that.
Please keep the great ideas coming!

Send an email notification of the baby's birthday to all the members of a specific account. A choice of gifts could also be included.1 vote
Thanks so much for this great idea, and so sorry for the delay in responding, Judith! We are definitely planning to do exactly that. And we’ll keep you posted :-)
Perhaps add a last initial to the name for a member that is commenting on a photo when there are duplicate names on one account.
For example I have an Aunt Mary and a Grandma Mary. When either of them comments or likes a photo, it just says 'Mary commented on a new photo.' So it can be tricky to figure out which Mary had left a message. Is it possible to add a last initial--Mary R ?? Or maybe when a new member accepts an invite and they have a duplicate name, they could be prompted to type how they could be identified--'Aunt Mary' for example. I have to say though, my entire family ADORES lifecake :) thank you lifecake team!!1 vote
This is a really interesting idea, Christina! We’ll have a think about how we can do this.
In the meantime, if you get the latest version of lifecake from the App Store, if you tap on the ‘Share with Family’ section, you can then see all your family. If you tap on one of them – maybe Grandma Mary – you can give them a nickname. Only you will see this, but it might at least help you distinguish the two for the time being!
Thanks for the great idea – we’ll get back on this one.
Its great that you can easily show the photos of a set or individual children, but wouldn't it make sense to have the parents and other family members or friends identified/filterable as well?
I suppose I could add them as 'another child', but they might not be so keen on having their age displayed as a constant reminder of the decrepitude (I am including myself here).
I suppose tags could be used, but I like the idea of seeing their little photo and selecting them.6 votes
Thanks, Adam! We actually made the dates go way back in time, so people could do exactly that: create lifecakes for older family members. (One of our team is actually creating a lifecake for his grandpa for his 90th birthday present this summer :-)
But we hadn’t thought about the birthdate being something people might not want to advertise, Good point! We will have a think about that at our team dinner on Monday and see what we can think of.
Keep the great ideas coming!
I would like all the photo's that I have posted for 1 day to be view in the timeline instead of clicking the green box under the photo to view the other photos. Currently, you can only view 3 or 4 photos in the timeline for any particular day. This also goes for the iPhone. Maybe a setting to allow or not allow this would be helpful.4 votes
Thanks very much for the suggestion Ilsa, and apologies for the delay in responding.
We are currently evaluating ways in which we can keep the timeline simple but also show more content (for those who would like it).
We will keep you update on how we get on. And in the meantime, please keep the great suggestions coming! We LOVE feedback :-)
All the best,
Nick from Team lifecake
I currently tag and star my photos in Photoshop elements and then upload into Flickr where I put the best photos into sets. Would be great if you could import these. (> 3 stars = lifecake favourite?) I currently use Photobox's Flickr integration to import sets into their albums for printing. 1-1 mapping between sets and albums makes it easy for me to find photos to print.1 vote
Thanks, Jon! Part of our mission is to save people time, so we will definitely have a think about how we can inherit the work you do elsewhere when you import content, as long as those services share that information. (Unfortunately some apps are not so generous. We’ve seen quite a few apps that delete titles and dates from photos when exporting :-(
Just to show you that we’re already thinking as you do, when you use our Desktop Uploader (available for free from our Website), if you drag in folders from your computer, we automatically tag content with the name of that folder. So, for example, if you drag in a folder called ‘Spain holiday’ to upload, we will tag all those photos with ‘Spain holiday’, so you can find them easily in lifecake.
We’ll let you know when we have anything updated on this!
A lot of the people who I invited from the android app deleted the invitation because they thought it was spam. I had to chase them up to tell them it was a legit invite.3 votes
Thanks very much, Gareth! We’ve been looking at how to make these emails clearer, so they won’t get lost or seem like SPAM.
What kind of additional information do you think might have helped in your case? We’d love to get your thoughts.
If you are updating a bunch of memories from a single event (e.g. day at the beach), it would be nice if you could add a title and/or description for the whole group of photos, rather than having to title each photo. The title for the group could also be displayed on the timeline (perhaps with an on/off toggle) so you could quickly know where the photos were from.5 votes
Thanks a lot, Jed. We’ve discussed this quite a lot as a team before – some of us have wanted exactly this when we’ve been adding events to our kids’ lifecakes.
We are not sure when we might have this, but we will keep you updated when it might be coming.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I use Lightroom for managing my photos, and it embeds IPTC captions in exported JPEGs. Many services like Google Plus and Flickr automatically pull from these captions; can you do the same with Lifecake?6 votes
Hi, Martin! And thanks a lot for this great suggestion.
We are looking to improve our desktop app in lots of ways, and we can investigate this idea. We absolutely want lifecake to play better with other great photo and video apps on your computers.
We’ll keep you posted!
Hi, Lawrence! Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you see a username as better so you don’t have to give your email address?
The reason we didn’t introduce usernames originally was because we got feedback from customers that they didn’t want to have to remember yet another username (as well as a password) for a service. With an email, it’s much easier to remember.
So it would be good to understand your thoughts on how this would make things easier for people.
As you look at the Photoi in the timeline, it would be nice to be able to see the description/title as a caption under the image. This way you don't have to click on the image to see it. You should be able to turn this on and off for each photo.4 votes
Thanks very much for the suggestion. Do you imagine that they would always appear? Or they might appear when you put the mouse over an image in the timeline?
It's a bit annoying that when I delete a photo, the gallery viewer closes and I have to find my way back to where I was to continue browsing through the photos if I want to delete some more.5 votes
Thanks for the suggestion, Andrew!
Would it feel most natural to you if the next item in the series was displayed?
It's always a pain to ask people to create new user accounts. Any chance you can integrate these services for account creation/authorization?1 vote
Hi! Thanks a lot for this suggestion.
We’ve actually thought and talked a lot about this a team in the past. The main reason we didn’t do it was that many parents we spoke to had privacy concerns about social networks. When it came to their kids, they were really keen to ensure privacy. And enabling log-in via other services seemed to raise concerns among people.
But we can get some more feedback on this from people, to see if many potential customers still feel the same way.
Thanks a lot for this!
Would be great to be able to change the size of the blocks in the timeline.1 vote
We’re currently investigating this one, and we’ll get back to you when it’s done!
On the iPhone app, allow seamless, fast viewing of pictures through a traditional chronological slide show view - ie, no delay when you switch days (similar to the facebook mobile photo viewer)8 votes
Thanks for the suggestion!
We actually have a slideshow mode, but just to see your ten favourite photos. To see this, start lifecake and shake your iPhone (or iPad), and we will show what we think are your ten favourite photos. Shake it again, and see ten more.
But we’ll look into having a slideshow mode for the whole timeline!
If we already have videos on YouTube, would it be possible to add them to the lifecake just by embedding a link - this might be easier as videos can take a long time to upload, download, etc. We don't store all of our videos locally (some are posted directly from the phone to YouTube), which then makes them hard to get on to Lifecake.16 votes
Hi, Nick! This is a really interesting idea.
Our vision for lifecake is to be the oen single story of all the moments in our child’s life. One safe place where everything lives – whether the content was on the phone, your tablet, our computer or even on the Web.
Later this month we plan to enable importing directly from online sites like Flickr or Picasa or Facebook, so you don’t have to download from these sites and then upload again to lifecake. Youtube might also be one.
We plan to hold the content so that you have the comfort of knowing everything is safe in on one place, but we will also explore displaying content which might be held elsewhere. We will check into this and get back to you.
- Don't see your idea?
