In the app, you can see how old the child is in each picture, but on the web version (atleast using Google Chrome) you can only see dates on the timeline (and how many days, weeks, months ago the picture was taken when you enlarge it). It would be really good to include the automatically calculated age tile in the web version too.4 votes
Hey Marc! Thanks for your thoughts on this. We completely agree and will shortly be refreshing our web view where age of your child will be made very visible.

For multiple photos per date, would be nice to have some option in positioning of photos, and the thumbnails shown. Especially in the case of 2 photos on a single date, there are a lot of foreheads only being displayed!82 votes
Hi, Bryony. We now use large thumbnails – and square – so you should see a lot fewer thumbnails. We’re seeing how people like this, and we may also do the positioning soon, too. Would love any feedback!
is there a way to switch languages in LC? I don't seem to be able to find it if there is.
Interestingly enough the mails I receive from LC are actually held in German while the website is all in English.
Thanks for your help,
Hi Andreas! Thanks so much for getting in touch, it is a really good point. The short answer is that we are making this possible. On Android you can already do this (from within ‘Settings’) and iOS and Web we plan to enable this soon.
In the mean time, for iOS, your default language is based on your device’s keyboard language (if you have your phone set to German, you should receive your emails in German). On web, as of next wk, we’ll do an IP look-up to detect where you are based and serve the corresponding language for emails thereafter.
Hope this helps.
Have a great day!

My family are really enjoying lifecake and love posting comments on my photos. However my parents are divorced and don't like reading each others comments.
Could you introduce a privacy option so I could keep comments hidden from different family members, or only allow them to see my comments or their own and not each others?43 votes
Thanks very much, Julia. We will update this when we have a better sense of when this will be possible. We absolutely understand the scenario and need.
Please keep the great suggestions coming! We LOVE feedback :-)

I use Animoto to pull together slideshows that have some pretty cool transition effects. These can then be packaged up and sent out or shared online as video files.
Could you do this as a new way of distributing photos alongside photobooks. You could still charge for the service as Animoto do.
Many thanks15 votes
Thanks, Vince! We like how you think :-)
We’ve been thinking a lot in this area and testing certain ideas. We’ll let you know when we have something.
Two questions we have:
Audio: Do you prefer your own narration or music on slideshows, generally?
Recipients: Do you have people you email content (of your child) to, that wouldn’t be on lifecake? Or would you share this within lifecake?
P.S. Just a little tip: if you shake your phone while lifecake is running, you’ll get a little slideshow of the moments we think you like best. Can’t send it yet, but that’s next.
Slideshows should be available for Android and on the website.17 votes
Hi Samantha! We cannot wait to add Flashbacks (slideshow’s new name) to Android. We plan to start building this function into the app this coming quarter. Thanks for the feedback! Ed
It would be really helpful to have some, at least basic, editing tools. Priority one would be a cropping tool, number two a quick setting for turning the photo black-and-white, and then some basic contrast/light/color choices. Much easier than editing in another program first.16 votes
Hi! Thanks so much for this, and sorry for the delay. We plan to do this, and we’ll update here when it’s coming :-)
Thanks for your patience!
I suggest you add the tag search, and description search33 votes
We've just been on holiday. It would be great if there was a bar above the photos that indicated the holiday period. So as a user I could set start and end dates and then a label and it shows a bar to indicate the period we were away. It would be a way to show photos in a loose labelled time/event based group. Other labels might be '1st birthday' , 'Learned to walk', 'first shoes' etc these could then be searchable, and the photos could be filtered based on event...5 votes
Thanks a lot for this, Martin. We definitely want to be able to label milestones clearly in the timeline, so they’re easy to jump to and find. As we get closer we’ll reach out to see what you think of the design.
Thanks a lot for the great suggestion! Good to see we’re thinking alike :-)
It would be great if you supported common raw files. I was hoping to use lifecake both to share and backup photos but it's much less useful if I have to convert as well as have a secondary backup to keep my originals safe11 votes
Hi Anna. Thanks for your suggestion and so sorry we’ve taken forever to respond. RAW is a format that we’d like to be able to support …we just need to work out how we’d do so from an infrastructure perspective. We’ll keep you posted.

Put an option to print pictures from the time line. That way when printing the pictures we would be able to know when this life event occure14 votes
So sorry for the delay, but we’ve been working on this and since we were acquired by Canon recently we will be able to do some very exciting things in printing. We’ll update here when we have news :-)
My sister just started using the service to share pictures of her child. It would be great if I could buy her a gift subscription to the VIP service.5 votes
We are planning this, as we think this will make a fantastic gift few new parents. We will let you know when this is coming, so you can try it out. We think your sister will appreciate it :-)

It would be cool if we could bookmark or highlight days that have milestones such as first steps, first visit to, etc. Can that be done in the near future?4 votes
Hi! Thanks so much for the great suggestion.
We’re thinking alike :-) We have plans to create a set of milestones in a life which really stand out. And we’ll keep you posted.
We’d love to hear in the meantime if you would prefer to mark an entire day as a milestone – and highlight it as such in the timelines – or be able to highlight a specific piece of content as a milestone (e.g. a certain photo, story or video).
When uploading new memories, i miss the function to edit them with a title while uploading. Now i have to upload all and then click on each memory to add a title. That ends up with no title, because Im to lazy doing that after I waited for the upload to be finished.
Can you please add that feature again.7 votes
Hi Stefan. We are working on putting this view back into the app. It should be available within the next month.
Ed & the Lifecake team.
If we add pictures that were taken less recently than other pictures in the Lifecake, they are sorted by date so are shuffled in with older pictures. I like having the pictures chronologically but this is harder for a viewer who wants to see the newly added pictures, which may not necessarily be those that were taken most recently. Is there a way to note which pictures were added last? Or highlight pictures that the viewer has not yet seen when they log in?4 votes
Our team was actually discussing this idea at dinner a few nights ago. We find this with our own lifecakes: we want to know when family have added older content.
Our plan was to put info about new uploads in the notifications area – where you currently see new comments or favorites – in the apps and Website. Will post an update here it’s coming!
I'm loving the new update. I like the fact that the STORY posts show the TITLE of the story on the iOS apps, but I wish the TITLE for the STORY posts appeared that way on the website. Instead, it shows the first few words of the STORY instead of the title.
I just think it should be consistent to the mobile app.1 vote
Hi Chris. Thanks so much for raising this point. This is a bug that our team will fix this week. The behaviour should be exactly as you state.
Sorry for the trouble,
Ed & the Lifecake team
I think you should be able to select which children Coke up in your newsfeed. I have other people's children on my life cake and enjoy being able to see them, but find it frustrating that you can not select to only view only my child. Simple to do and would be much better.7 votes
Really good point and one we’re working on to address. Would you expect to be able to filter by ‘my children’ and ‘other children’ OR would you want more granular control and select which children show in the feed?
Lifecake has Swipe Right and Swipe Left reversed. This is simply annoying. Please fix.4 votes
Hi! Ed here from the Lifecake team. We agree – we got this wrong and will start working on addressing this in the next 2 weeks. An update should be available from the app store in the next 3-4 weeks.
It would be nice to have the option of creating albums, which would be a way to organize some picture into sets of common topics.11 votes
Hi, Patrice! So sorry for the delay in responding.
We are planning a better system with tagging which will enable you to do exactly this. We will update you when we have more information.
Thanks, and have a great day!
