Hi, Ryan! Sorry for the delay in updating it here, but this is now available in the settings section of our apps and our site.
Both the desktop website and the iOS app have the abilities to 'add to camera roll', or otherwise effectively download a particular photo. On Android devices, however, this option is distinctly absent.
It would be cool to have this feature on Android too without having to do some major fiddling to otherwise perform the action (involving lots of cursing and taking screenshots...)4 votes
Hi! Just to let you know that the Android download to camera roll feature is now in place in the most recent update.
Hope you like it.
Have a great day!
Great changes to Lifecake! Would also be useful when selecting pictures from Camera Roll to be able to view a large version of the picture
Picking THE pic from the hundreds that I take (!) is difficult as I can only see the tiny thumbnail pic and can't see the subtleties of expressions. It would be useful to be able to see a larger pic, so I can pick the best picture without having to leave the app, go to Camera Roll, work out which is the best pic then return to Lifecake.4 votes
Hi, Madeleine! Sorry for the delay, but I hope you’ve seen that we implemented this now. Please let us know if you have any feedback :-)
Keep sizing of photos originally uploaded. After uploaded and viewed on full view some pictures are too big and cannot see entire frame. Some pictures are also shrunken down to their pre cropped , prior to upload position, despite being uploaded correctly.19 votes
Hi, Melissa! So sorry for the delay, but this should be sorted now. When you tap on portrait (vertically-aligned) photos to view them on your iPhone they should fill the screen by default – as the Camera Roll does – but if you ‘reverse pinch’ then you can see the entire photo.
Can you let us know if this isn’t working exactly as you’d like or expect it to now?
I do not think there is currently a way to remove a friend or family member once they have accepted the invite? Although you would hope never to need such a function, I imagine there will be circumstances which warrant it.1 vote
Hi, Jo! Thanks a lot for the suggestion.
We actually have this today – the ability to remove someone’s access – but it’s not as clear as we’d like.
On your phone or iPad you can click on Sharing – or on our Website on your computer, you can click on the ‘Family and friends’ button at the top of the site – and then you can select an existing content. Then you can change the permissions to ‘None’ for permissions.
But we will look to make this simpler!
I didn't add my husband as the other admin when I set this account up; I assumed I could go back and add him later after I checked his email address. I'd like him to have the same admin control as me. Is this possible?1 vote
Absolutely. If you share your lifecake with your husband, just be sure to add him with the rights to:
‘Comment, Add, Edit’.
He will than have the same parental controls you do.
If you have any questions or other suggestions, please let us know!
I would like to be able to get the original versions of photos posted by other users - e.g., to use for an iPhone screen background.1 vote
Hi! With the latest version of our iPhone app in the App Store, you can now download full-res images from your lifecake.
To update: Just go to the App Store app on your phone and check for updates.
To download: Tap on whichever content you want to download in lifecake, and then tap on the arrow in the bottom left.
We’ll be adding this to the Website and Android apps later.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Have you all thought about making the captions for photos more visible in the iphone and Android apps? In the iphone app, you only see them when you click on the picture in slideshow mode, and in the Android app, I can't figure out how to see it at all. It would be awesome if the caption just appeared in white along the bottom of each picture automatically-- it's a big part of the story/context for the images.1 vote
Hi, Angie! In the latest Android version you can now see captions – and you can even add or edit them directly in the app.
We’re working on ways to make them even more visible in the main timelines for our Website and apps.
Hi, I would love to be able to flick through all the images instead of having to come out of each day's album and then choose another one.
Perhaps linking the albums would be a good idea? You could give the option to View Next Day/Album/Week/Month?
Loving Lifecake though!
Hi, all! This is now possible on iPhone and iPad, too. Just download the latest version from the App Store, and when you’re viewing content full-screen you can keep scrolling left or right across days.
Get with the programme - Android is where it is at. C'mon Nico!
Hi! You can get lifecake for Android here now:
We are updating it all the time, so please send any feedback or requests.
- Don't see your idea?
