Can you invite family that you want to view your content but not be able to comment on it?702 votes
I'm a big fan of the look and functionality of the LifeCake website and app! Ultimately, I'm looking to print content in a book though, so I'm still waiting on some features and hope you'll consider adding them in the future. Specifically, it'd be great if all content, including stories and comments, could be included and there was an option for multiple pictures/stories per page.
I recently stumbled across My Social Book and would love being able to print books of a similar look from LifeCake. Do you think your books will deliver similar features in the future?397 votes
Hi, Johana! So sorry for the delay in responding, but we’re glad you’re enjoying the app and Website.
We do want to provide more options in our photobooks in the future for sure. Right now we’re focusing on customer requests within our app and Website, though, so we’re unsure when we will have this. But we will update this as soon as we do.
And in the meantime, just so you know: we have an option on our Website in Settings to ‘Download all’. With this you can download all your content – in full quality and in monthly, organised folders – so you can still print books on other sites in the time being.
Thanks for your patience and your feedback!
We have options to share pictures or download them back to our phone but our videos have zero options. Once we upload them to your site, we can't do anything with them. Can you add a share to Facebook or YouTube feature or even download back to our phone? I'm using life cake as storage and have found that I can't get any of the video back to my phone to share with people that don't have a life cake account. Thank you!171 votes
Hi, Tammie! So sorry for the delay in responding to this.
To download videos, you can download all your original photos and videos via the ‘Download all’ option in Settings on our Website. Just so you know.
But we will look at downloading individual videos and get back to you!
The parent should be able to limit who adds photos or videos, because you may want some people to be able to view and comment but not be able to upload stuff.134 votes
We wanted to give you an update on this suggestion and we think we owe you a bit of an apology on this matter. As we have been looking into this further, it seems that we were a little over ambitious with our original estimate of when we might be able to deliver it.
To be honest we have been working really hard and since we became part of the Canon family not everything we have planned to be developed went in accordance to our expectations.
We definitely do want to add this feature and we acknowledge a lot of our users would like to see it built into Lifecake and we can assure you that we’ll get it onto our roadmap, just as soon as we have the time and the resources to build it.
Many thanks for your patience and loyalty.
Ed & the Lifecake Team.
We backup all photos (including non child) to Google Plus, and sometimes it creates sweet and beautiful animated photos. I tried to upload to Lifecake and the preview during uploaded was animated, but then once added the gif became static.
Gifs are a standard format already supported by all browsers and mobile phones, please preserve the format for lifecake photos.113 votes
Hey Eddie. Thanks for the feedback. We definitely could support animated gifs – it is really just a question of where we focus our resources. We’ll keep an eye on the number of votes this gets and shall keep you posted.

i think that nicknames set by the parents should be the names that show for anyone looking at the account. For example, if my brother created his account with just his name, Matt, but I put his nickname as Uncle Matt, everyone should see his name as Uncle Matt when he loves a moment or makes a comment.89 votes
Hi, Sarah! Thanks so much for this (and sorry for the delay in responding). Seems to be getting a lot of votes.
We didn’t do this currently because we know in many families people have their own personal nicknames for people (i.e. ‘Grandma’ for me is ‘Mum’ to my mother). This is our concern with making things universal.
Also, who gets to decide what someone’s nickname is? If it’s personal, then there is no issue. But if it’s universal, then only one person can decide.
Would love to know yours (and anyone else’s) thoughts on this!

I guess it seems to defeat the purpose is you're using this awesome app to share pics/videos with family and friends. But I also like to be able to store all the pics/videos in one place. Some pics I may not necessarily want to share with everyone that can view the timeline so the option to make some pics/videos private would be great! Either way, I LOVE LifeCake!62 votes
Thanks a lot for the suggestion, Thuy! We’ve been having lots of discussions about this in our team, and we may come back with a few questions on this. But it is definitely on our radar.
Have a great day!
I think Lifecake is awesome I just wish there was a way to sort the videos. I would like to be able to see the videos by themselves.53 votes
Many thanks for the feedback. It is a great idea. Let’s see what traction this idea gets in the forum and once we see some good votes we’ll get working on it.

There should be a standard form to capture some specific information of the baby's life, such as day (as well as date) and time of birth, height and weight at birth (and perhaps monthly intervals), location of birth, gender, eye colour and hair colour. I know this can be done through notes, but a standard form that creates a specific nicely-formatted entry (or entries in terms of height/weight) plus photos would be quite nice. I know some of the journals available can collect data on amount of sleep/playing etc. but that's a bit too far into the realms of a log - my suggestion above is more some stated facts in a simple form.

Hi Mark! This is a great idea. You’re right in that today many people do this via our ‘stories’ feature but we could significantly improve the experience here. We’re exploring this idea of ‘milestones’ – we have a D.O.B marker but could expand it to include many of the key facts & stats you mention.
We definitely plan to add this in the future, and we will update here when we have it.
Thanks for your patience in the meantime!
Do you plan to support flickr in the near future?35 votes
Hi, Ross! Thanks for the question.
We plan to, but we’re just checking how many votes the idea gets to decide on when we do it. We’ll update you here when we’re sure. And sorry for the delay in the meantime.
Are you going to launch an app/channel which is compatible with my Roku 3. I need to be able to display my photos on my smart tv via my ROku box like I can do with Picasa.32 votes
Hi, Greg! To be honest, this is not in our plan right now as yours is the first request we’ve had on this (and our priorities are really guided by what our customers request most).
But we certainly think it’s cool – as we believe ultimately the TV will be one of the best devices for lifecake – so we’ll see if this idea gets more votes from people!
Thanks for suggesting.

At the moment you can't choose the order of photos taken on the same day, which is a pain. This would be a helpful improvement!30 votes
Hi! Thanks for the suggestion and apologies for the delay in responding.
Would your ideal scenario be that you can drag a photo to be the main one featured that day and then have the rest of the family see the same thing?
At the moment you have to crop or amend the colours or add text/stickers to a photo before you upload it. If you could crop pics in this app it would be a lot better.29 votes
We’d love to introduce photo editing tools in the app. If this requests gets some good traction, we’ll escalate it’s priority in our list of todos.
Ed & the Lifecake team.
This is a great service!
Is there any chance you could write an export plugin for Adobe Lightroom. I'm sure photographers are drawn to a service like this and a direct export from the most popular enthusiast editing software would make the upload process much easier.
Keep up the good work!24 votes
Hi, Vince! Thanks so much for your email.
We have been thinking about plug-ins for iPhoto and Lightroom and apps, and we hope to have them for our desktop apps. We’ll keep you posted when something like that is coming!
Play the pictures in the slideshow in a date sequential order to be able to "watch" the baby grow before our eyes!23 votes
Thanks so much for the suggestion, Brandy! We’re actually working right now on improvements to the slideshow, and we’re looking at the order they’re played in, too.
By the way, are you happy with the speed of the slideshow?
Allow photos to be tagged by location/place. Instagram has this feature. Makes it easier to tag rather than having to describe where every picture was taken.22 votes
Hi, Pauline. We’re so sorry this suggestion didn’t get a response.
We’ve had a lot of thought about this as a team, and we’ve always worried that location information might seem a bit intrusive. But we’re thinking about ways we can do this so it’s totally optional and wouldn’t violate the privacy of parents or their children.
We’ll update in there when we know more :-)
Make it possible to create a heading, e.g. Freddie's First Christmas or Trip to the Seaside, and then make groups of photos/stories appear under the heading.20 votes
Hey Alexandra! Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the delayed response. The team talk about this concept a lot – it idea of being able introduce ‘chapters’ or ‘phases’ to the timeline. We don’t yet have any fixed plans to implement this but will be doing a lot more thinking in this area.

I recently purchased a Pix-Star Wifi photo frame for all of my family members. The beauty of the frame is that it can automatically receive updates to the frame but having the photos sent to an email address. I find that when I post to Lifecake, I often have to separately email the photos to updates the frame. It would be wonderful if posted photos could emailed and "reflected" to an address attached to a family member. It would be amazing to add this integration or suggest a way I could receive updates to a photo frame. Alternatively, if Lifecake could receive updates from Dropbox, Flickr, etc... that would also solve my problem.

Hi, Josh! So sorry that there was a delay in responding to your suggestion.
We’re looking into how we can enable customers to integrate into photoframes in a simple way. And we’ll update in here when we know more.
In terms of Dropbox, you can actually import from Dropbox on your computer browser, iPhone/iPad or Android in the Lifecake app. It’s an option when you click or tap on +. Just let us know if you have any issues with this.
Have a great day!
Instead of having the timeline label be based on how many days or weeks ago the photo was uploaded, it would be more helpful to be labeled according to Baby's age as of the date of the photo (i.e. two weeks old, one month old, 6 weeks old, one year old, etc.).16 votes
Hi! So sorry for the delay in responding to this – it slipped through the net. Can you tell us which device you’re using?
If we already have videos on YouTube, would it be possible to add them to the lifecake just by embedding a link - this might be easier as videos can take a long time to upload, download, etc. We don't store all of our videos locally (some are posted directly from the phone to YouTube), which then makes them hard to get on to Lifecake.16 votes
Hi, Nick! This is a really interesting idea.
Our vision for lifecake is to be the oen single story of all the moments in our child’s life. One safe place where everything lives – whether the content was on the phone, your tablet, our computer or even on the Web.
Later this month we plan to enable importing directly from online sites like Flickr or Picasa or Facebook, so you don’t have to download from these sites and then upload again to lifecake. Youtube might also be one.
We plan to hold the content so that you have the comfort of knowing everything is safe in on one place, but we will also explore displaying content which might be held elsewhere. We will check into this and get back to you.
- Don't see your idea?
