I use Lifecake for my baby, and one of my friends uses Lifecake for her baby. It would be very fun if there were an option to display our kids' Lifecake photos according to their ages in the photos as opposed to displaying them according to the date the photo was taken. That way, I'd have the option of seeing photos of my baby girl at 3 months old next to the pics of her baby at 3 months old. Adding this as an option would be really great. (I imagine families with multiple children would also love this option -- being able to see kid A and kid B at the same age would be fun!)

I suggest you add the tag search, and description search37 votes
I use Animoto to pull together slideshows that have some pretty cool transition effects. These can then be packaged up and sent out or shared online as video files.
Could you do this as a new way of distributing photos alongside photobooks. You could still charge for the service as Animoto do.
Many thanks21 votes
Thanks, Vince! We like how you think :-)
We’ve been thinking a lot in this area and testing certain ideas. We’ll let you know when we have something.
Two questions we have:
Audio: Do you prefer your own narration or music on slideshows, generally?
Recipients: Do you have people you email content (of your child) to, that wouldn’t be on lifecake? Or would you share this within lifecake?
P.S. Just a little tip: if you shake your phone while lifecake is running, you’ll get a little slideshow of the moments we think you like best. Can’t send it yet, but that’s next.
Slideshows should be available for Android and on the website.19 votes
Hi Samantha! We cannot wait to add Flashbacks (slideshow’s new name) to Android. We plan to start building this function into the app this coming quarter. Thanks for the feedback! Ed
It would be nice to have the option of creating albums, which would be a way to organize some picture into sets of common topics.16 votes
Hi, Patrice! So sorry for the delay in responding.
We are planning a better system with tagging which will enable you to do exactly this. We will update you when we have more information.
Thanks, and have a great day!
It would be cool if we could bookmark or highlight days that have milestones such as first steps, first visit to, etc. Can that be done in the near future?12 votes
Hi! Thanks so much for the great suggestion.
We’re thinking alike :-) We have plans to create a set of milestones in a life which really stand out. And we’ll keep you posted.
We’d love to hear in the meantime if you would prefer to mark an entire day as a milestone – and highlight it as such in the timelines – or be able to highlight a specific piece of content as a milestone (e.g. a certain photo, story or video).
For example you can group stories by Baby / Toddler's first such as first tooth, first tricycle ride etc. or group things like measurements i.e. height/weight etc.9 votes
Great idea. We started testing something similar on our Website (where you can add tags and also search by titles of events).
But we are planning on adding easy tagging on all our apps and also enabling the ability to easily search for a moment or group of moments which share something similar (like all major milestones).
We’ll keep you posted as we get closer on this!
Please keep the great lifecake ideas coming!

If we add pictures that were taken less recently than other pictures in the Lifecake, they are sorted by date so are shuffled in with older pictures. I like having the pictures chronologically but this is harder for a viewer who wants to see the newly added pictures, which may not necessarily be those that were taken most recently. Is there a way to note which pictures were added last? Or highlight pictures that the viewer has not yet seen when they log in?7 votes
Our team was actually discussing this idea at dinner a few nights ago. We find this with our own lifecakes: we want to know when family have added older content.
Our plan was to put info about new uploads in the notifications area – where you currently see new comments or favorites – in the apps and Website. Will post an update here it’s coming!
When uploading new memories, i miss the function to edit them with a title while uploading. Now i have to upload all and then click on each memory to add a title. That ends up with no title, because Im to lazy doing that after I waited for the upload to be finished.
Can you please add that feature again.7 votes
Hi Stefan. We are working on putting this view back into the app. It should be available within the next month.
Ed & the Lifecake team.
My sister just started using the service to share pictures of her child. It would be great if I could buy her a gift subscription to the VIP service.5 votes
We are planning this, as we think this will make a fantastic gift few new parents. We will let you know when this is coming, so you can try it out. We think your sister will appreciate it :-)

We've just been on holiday. It would be great if there was a bar above the photos that indicated the holiday period. So as a user I could set start and end dates and then a label and it shows a bar to indicate the period we were away. It would be a way to show photos in a loose labelled time/event based group. Other labels might be '1st birthday' , 'Learned to walk', 'first shoes' etc these could then be searchable, and the photos could be filtered based on event...5 votes
Thanks a lot for this, Martin. We definitely want to be able to label milestones clearly in the timeline, so they’re easy to jump to and find. As we get closer we’ll reach out to see what you think of the design.
Thanks a lot for the great suggestion! Good to see we’re thinking alike :-)
Lifecake has Swipe Right and Swipe Left reversed. This is simply annoying. Please fix.4 votes
Hi! Ed here from the Lifecake team. We agree – we got this wrong and will start working on addressing this in the next 2 weeks. An update should be available from the app store in the next 3-4 weeks.
In the app, you can see how old the child is in each picture, but on the web version (atleast using Google Chrome) you can only see dates on the timeline (and how many days, weeks, months ago the picture was taken when you enlarge it). It would be really good to include the automatically calculated age tile in the web version too.4 votes
Hey Marc! Thanks for your thoughts on this. We completely agree and will shortly be refreshing our web view where age of your child will be made very visible.

I would like to add multiple friends and family once rather than having to invite separately. Although I would like to add a personal message, it is a generic one to everyone I want to add.2 votes
Hi, Robert! Thanks for the great suggestion.
We currently have this in our iPhone/iPad/iPod app, but we will be adding it to our Website and Android apps soon. We’ll update this when it’s ready!
''Trying to create a photobook. I understand that I cannot do it from my Iphone but can I use a laptop? I do not own a desk top computer...I really like Lifecake but the poor photobook options is one of the reasons I may not continue to use it :( Help!''2 votes
I'm loving the new update. I like the fact that the STORY posts show the TITLE of the story on the iOS apps, but I wish the TITLE for the STORY posts appeared that way on the website. Instead, it shows the first few words of the STORY instead of the title.
I just think it should be consistent to the mobile app.1 vote
Hi Chris. Thanks so much for raising this point. This is a bug that our team will fix this week. The behaviour should be exactly as you state.
Sorry for the trouble,
Ed & the Lifecake team
Through the website you can edit a story but through the android app you cannot. It would be really great if you would change this.1 vote
Hi, Alex! Thanks a lot for this. We definitely plan to add this in the future, and we will update here when we have it.
Thanks for your patience in the meantime!
I would love the option to downloaded my stuff from Dropbox1 vote
Hi! That was a bit presumptuous of us :-)
We will definitely look to add Dropbox as a source, in addition to youtube, flickr, Tumblr and some others in the future. So we’ll keep this open and let you know!
As it says in the title. Would be great if the site showed how much space Iv'e used up :)
Would be nice if you could do better video-quality also, understand that this comes at a cost, but that could be a VIP feature! I tend to put more and more video on your site as requested by all grandparents :)1 vote
Hi! Thanks so much for the suggestion and apologies for the delay in responding.
In our mobile apps we currently display how much space has been used, and we’ll be adding this to our Website as soon as possible – we absolutely agree it’s important.
In terms of video quality, we actually store videos in full quality (so if you ever choose to download your content and leave lifecake, you will have full quality originals). We do, though, display slightly lower quality videos, so they are faster to download for the grandparents. Are you keen to have higher quality videos shown, even if it might take the grandparents a bit longer to view?
Thanks a lot for your great suggestions! We LOVE feedback :-)

To be able to choose in the settings an option to only upload photos and videos when on wifi. This would pause the upload if the wifi connection is lost , avoiding using a lot of the 4G data allowance if we go out before the upload has finished1 vote
Hi Elina. Huge apologies for this suggestion not being acted upon sooner. We had a lot of feedback on this point and so have already implemented this feature in Android and will be doing the same, soon, for iOS.
