For example you can group stories by Baby / Toddler's first such as first tooth, first tricycle ride etc. or group things like measurements i.e. height/weight etc.9 votes
Great idea. We started testing something similar on our Website (where you can add tags and also search by titles of events).
But we are planning on adding easy tagging on all our apps and also enabling the ability to easily search for a moment or group of moments which share something similar (like all major milestones).
We’ll keep you posted as we get closer on this!
Please keep the great lifecake ideas coming!

Perhaps add a last initial to the name for a member that is commenting on a photo when there are duplicate names on one account.
For example I have an Aunt Mary and a Grandma Mary. When either of them comments or likes a photo, it just says 'Mary commented on a new photo.' So it can be tricky to figure out which Mary had left a message. Is it possible to add a last initial--Mary R ?? Or maybe when a new member accepts an invite and they have a duplicate name, they could be prompted to type how they could be identified--'Aunt Mary' for example. I have to say though, my entire family ADORES lifecake :) thank you lifecake team!!1 vote
This is a really interesting idea, Christina! We’ll have a think about how we can do this.
In the meantime, if you get the latest version of lifecake from the App Store, if you tap on the ‘Share with Family’ section, you can then see all your family. If you tap on one of them – maybe Grandma Mary – you can give them a nickname. Only you will see this, but it might at least help you distinguish the two for the time being!
Thanks for the great idea – we’ll get back on this one.
If you are updating a bunch of memories from a single event (e.g. day at the beach), it would be nice if you could add a title and/or description for the whole group of photos, rather than having to title each photo. The title for the group could also be displayed on the timeline (perhaps with an on/off toggle) so you could quickly know where the photos were from.6 votes
Thanks a lot, Jed. We’ve discussed this quite a lot as a team before – some of us have wanted exactly this when we’ve been adding events to our kids’ lifecakes.
We are not sure when we might have this, but we will keep you updated when it might be coming.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Its great that you can easily show the photos of a set or individual children, but wouldn't it make sense to have the parents and other family members or friends identified/filterable as well?
I suppose I could add them as 'another child', but they might not be so keen on having their age displayed as a constant reminder of the decrepitude (I am including myself here).
I suppose tags could be used, but I like the idea of seeing their little photo and selecting them.9 votes
Thanks, Adam! We actually made the dates go way back in time, so people could do exactly that: create lifecakes for older family members. (One of our team is actually creating a lifecake for his grandpa for his 90th birthday present this summer :-)
But we hadn’t thought about the birthdate being something people might not want to advertise, Good point! We will have a think about that at our team dinner on Monday and see what we can think of.
Keep the great ideas coming!
As it says in the title. Would be great if the site showed how much space Iv'e used up :)
Would be nice if you could do better video-quality also, understand that this comes at a cost, but that could be a VIP feature! I tend to put more and more video on your site as requested by all grandparents :)1 vote
Hi! Thanks so much for the suggestion and apologies for the delay in responding.
In our mobile apps we currently display how much space has been used, and we’ll be adding this to our Website as soon as possible – we absolutely agree it’s important.
In terms of video quality, we actually store videos in full quality (so if you ever choose to download your content and leave lifecake, you will have full quality originals). We do, though, display slightly lower quality videos, so they are faster to download for the grandparents. Are you keen to have higher quality videos shown, even if it might take the grandparents a bit longer to view?
Thanks a lot for your great suggestions! We LOVE feedback :-)

I would love the option to downloaded my stuff from Dropbox1 vote
Hi! That was a bit presumptuous of us :-)
We will definitely look to add Dropbox as a source, in addition to youtube, flickr, Tumblr and some others in the future. So we’ll keep this open and let you know!
I currently tag and star my photos in Photoshop elements and then upload into Flickr where I put the best photos into sets. Would be great if you could import these. (> 3 stars = lifecake favourite?) I currently use Photobox's Flickr integration to import sets into their albums for printing. 1-1 mapping between sets and albums makes it easy for me to find photos to print.1 vote
Thanks, Jon! Part of our mission is to save people time, so we will definitely have a think about how we can inherit the work you do elsewhere when you import content, as long as those services share that information. (Unfortunately some apps are not so generous. We’ve seen quite a few apps that delete titles and dates from photos when exporting :-(
Just to show you that we’re already thinking as you do, when you use our Desktop Uploader (available for free from our Website), if you drag in folders from your computer, we automatically tag content with the name of that folder. So, for example, if you drag in a folder called ‘Spain holiday’ to upload, we will tag all those photos with ‘Spain holiday’, so you can find them easily in lifecake.
We’ll let you know when we have anything updated on this!
If we add pictures that were taken less recently than other pictures in the Lifecake, they are sorted by date so are shuffled in with older pictures. I like having the pictures chronologically but this is harder for a viewer who wants to see the newly added pictures, which may not necessarily be those that were taken most recently. Is there a way to note which pictures were added last? Or highlight pictures that the viewer has not yet seen when they log in?7 votes
Our team was actually discussing this idea at dinner a few nights ago. We find this with our own lifecakes: we want to know when family have added older content.
Our plan was to put info about new uploads in the notifications area – where you currently see new comments or favorites – in the apps and Website. Will post an update here it’s coming!
Hi, Lawrence! Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you see a username as better so you don’t have to give your email address?
The reason we didn’t introduce usernames originally was because we got feedback from customers that they didn’t want to have to remember yet another username (as well as a password) for a service. With an email, it’s much easier to remember.
So it would be good to understand your thoughts on how this would make things easier for people.
As you look at the Photoi in the timeline, it would be nice to be able to see the description/title as a caption under the image. This way you don't have to click on the image to see it. You should be able to turn this on and off for each photo.4 votes
Thanks very much for the suggestion. Do you imagine that they would always appear? Or they might appear when you put the mouse over an image in the timeline?
Even after a child reaches their 6 months, please show the half-month markers.1 vote
We wanted to let you know that this is currently not planned.
Should you have any questions please let us know via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a great day,
The Lifecake team.
On the iPhone app, allow seamless, fast viewing of pictures through a traditional chronological slide show view - ie, no delay when you switch days (similar to the facebook mobile photo viewer)8 votes
Thanks for the suggestion!
We actually have a slideshow mode, but just to see your ten favourite photos. To see this, start lifecake and shake your iPhone (or iPad), and we will show what we think are your ten favourite photos. Shake it again, and see ten more.
But we’ll look into having a slideshow mode for the whole timeline!
In Chrome, all you can see is 'lifecake | all your childre' - at least on the tabs on my screen (Win7 laptop) - maybe for tabbed browsers it could just say 'lifecake | <name of child>'?1 vote
Thanks, Nick, we will look into this!
Right now once you drag the first picture or movie the draggable target disappears (replaced with status of current uploads). Please keep an area of the screen targetable so we can drag more pictures without having to close the window and open another one.4 votes
Thanks a lot, Pedro. We’re working on ways for you to do bulk uploads of content while still being able to add tags and descriptions to items in progress. We’ll keep you posted!
When tagging the child during uploading, go to the next photo automatically rather than clicking onto Next
After you download the photos, if you have multiple children you’re tagging, it would be great after you tag a child, the page could automatically flip to the next photo without having to click “next”.0 votes
My recommendation was to add weekly and monthly pushes not just instant or daily. I dont use the app as a result of getting way to much stuff.0 votes

It would be great if the parents could see all the favourite of a family member. I would have love to make a nice scrapbook with my children pictures without having to open all pictures... The idea would be to select for example my mother’s favourite pictures so I could print these and make an album with her favourites :)0 votes
